Fishing permits are available from the South Uist Estate office (Stòras Uibhist), three South Uist Angling Club outlets and selected hotels. Fishing is allowed on all the lochs in the South Uist Estate area, except those listed as machair lochs.
South Uist Angling Club boats are available for hire on some of the more accessible and popular lochs, but this should not be taken as an indication that other lochs are of no interest to anglers.

Angling Club boat bookings
Boat permits for the Angling Club boats can be purchased through the Stòras Uibhist office, in person, by phone (01878 708002) and via email (fishing@storasuibhist.com), 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
During the season, enquiries/bookings can be made on Saturdays between 9am and 12noon by phoning 07780 820658.
Advance bookings for boat permits and fishing permits are welcome.
Please note that SUAC boat bookings can now made for Sunday fishing.
Confirmation of availability will be made at time of booking.
Bookings are split into three sessions:
- Sunrise – 1pm
- 1pm – 5pm
- 5pm – dusk
(East Loch Bee boats booked through the Angling Club are for a FULL day.)
