The machair fishing is co-ordinated by a dedicated fishery manager, John Kennedy. He manages the booking system, including allocation of the lochs and boats.

The hill loch permits are sold by South Uist Angling Club.

Catch Returns

To help monitor the health of the fish stocks and the usage of the fishery we ask that all anglers complete a catch return that details not only the fish they catch, but also the lochs they have fished each day.

Catch return forms are issued with each permit.
